Baby Update

Thank you all for the wonderful gifts and love on Friday! It was seriously the best baby shower anyone could ask for. I am so lucky to teach in the Sunrise community where you all so very supportive and kind. I was blown away by your generosity and love. My baby girl is going to be very spoiled because of you guys! I hope your kids had a fun time as well- it was so much fun to see them get so excited about baby outfits and diapers. They put together a book of parenting advice-- and it has brought so much laughter and many smiles as my husband and I read it together this weekend. They definitely think they know all about taking care of babies! It was adorable. I will cherish it for years to come.

I will be gone Monday for doctor's appointments. I will know more on Monday how much longer I will be at school and let you know then. I plan on taking 12 weeks to be at home with my new little one. I plan on returning to school the beginning of February. My long term sub will be Dr. Betty Francis. She is a retired 4th grade teacher and has spent the past few years filling in as a long term sub for teachers in Canyons Distrct. I was able to meet with her Friday after school and run her though our classroom routines. I think your kids will really enjoy being with her!

Halloween Parade

Our classroom Halloween Party will be from 2:00-2:45 PM. A big thank you to all of you helping out!! The kids are going to love it! I have told the kids if they want to bring another outfit to change into after the parade they are welcome to do so. I usually have about half of them that want to change into something more comfortable. I'm okay with that! They can also choose to wear their costume all day- it's up to them. If you have any questions about Halloween please let me know, I'm happy to help.

RadKIDs

A message from our RadKIDS instructors:

This week in radKIDS we will discuss Vehicle and Bicycle Safety and Good Touch/Bad Touch (pages 34-46 in the Family Manual).  This Friday or next Monday will be our radKIDS graduation. The students get to practice all the moves they have learned and simulate a mock abduction.  We hope you can join us! (even for only part of the time). Look for your child to bring home a flyer this week with the exact day and time. If you have any questions please email Melanie Ferguson, radKIDS coordinator, at melanieferg8@gmail.com.

Our RadKIDS Graduation will take place Monday November 4th @ 1:00 PM in the gym. All parents are invited to come and watch the kids show off their new skills. Graduation usually lasts 60-90 minutes.

Pie in the Face

Our due date for having Multiplication/Division facts passed off is fast approaching! I have a handful of students who are so close to passing off. Please check in with your child and help them meet their goal if they have not already. Remember, Reflex Math only allows for a certain number of facts passed off each day, so this is not something that they can pass off the night before. It is such a fun memory for the kids to smash pie in their teachers face-- I would hate for them to miss out on it, especially those that are so close and have worked so hard!

Book Party

For all kids that have completed 4 books this month they will be invited to a Board Game Party! Children may bring a board game or card game from home to play with other kids. Please have their name written on the box and any small pieces in a ziplock bag-- this so that pieces don't go missing. This party will take place Friday Nov. 1st! Last year this was a favorite party of many of my students.

Please check your student's homework folder and sign off any books they have finished! I went through Friday afternoon and initialed and highlighted (in yellow) kids that have enough books for the month passed off. If you see YELLOW highlights on your student's tally sheet they are good to go! I had quite a few kids with their books written down, but no parent signature yet-- please just take a quick moment and sign them off this week. I will try to sign off books each day this week :)

Volunteers

Here are the calendars for the next several months. I had to move a few of you around due to holidays. In December I couldn't fit every in-- sorry if I had to leave you off. I promise I still love you!  If the dates I assigned you don't work-- no worries. Also, in January- everyone is shifted a week. For example- if you come in the first week of January, I have you the second week (since we don't have school the first week in January). Make sure you change this in your phones :).
